A conversation for early-career female researchers in STEM
SPEAKER: Dr Julianne Sansa-Otim (PhD.Computer Networks)

Julianne is an avid researcher / consultant with over 20 years’ experience in the ICT sector. She is a senior lecturer at Makerere University and leads the IoT-ra lab where Internet of Things research is conducted. Her research interests are in applied Information and Communication Technologies and she has won research grants from a number of agencies resulting in capacity building for a number of partner institutions in Africa. Over the past 10 years, she has successfully led several innovative solutions such as a low-cost automatic weather station; weather information dissemination systems among several others within Africa and beyond. She has also served on boards of Research and Education Network for Uganda (RENU) and the UbuntuNet Alliance.
Dr Sansa-Otim believes in raising the next generation of credible women scientist by investing in them through mentorship. One of her favourite quotes is “Each strong woman ought to light the candles for several others.” In this webinar, she will be sharing necessary tips to propel and position women for research leadership especially in STEM.
