These specialisations are completed over two years, part-time.

In the first year, for all courses, four full-time weeks are spread across the year. The first week will be in person at UCT.

These programmes are aimed at students currently employed in the Information Systems or Information Technology fields. Applicants need a minimum of a three-year undergraduate degree (NQF level 7) from any IS or cognate discipline, and at least three years’ relevant IT working experience. We will however, consider applicants with no formal qualifications, using Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) as criterion for admission. All candidates are evaluated on a competitive basis and a limited number of places are offered.

In the first year of part-time study, students need to complete the coursework in one of the following four streams:

    • Information Systems Management
    • Computer Forensics (Not offered in 2023)
    • Enterprise Systems and Business Process Management (Offered in 2023 and 2025)
    • Business Analysis and Systems Analysis
    • Cybersecurity

In the second year, once the selected coursework is completed, students based on interest and proven ability can either complete a research project and qualify for an Honours degree, or complete a work-related Information Systems project to qualify for the postgraduate diploma.

Relevant individual course fees are available in the Fees handbook.
