Information Systems or Computer Science can be taken as a major along with another Humanities subject as part of a general BA/BSocSc degree.

You don’t need to have studied any computing before. During your three years at UCT you will learn how to write computer programs, study systems analysis and design as well as database design and other courses. You will understand how systems work in bringing together people and technology. You will study across the Humanities and Commerce faculties giving you much broader learnings.

Informatics or Computer Science are BA majors that makes you highly employable as there is a critical shortage in South Africa in the Information Technology sector. These majors will enable you to enter into a range of career tracks such as a business analyst, business process analyst, project manager, web developer, web content manager, teacher, academic and technology administrator.
