The Untold Stories of a Woman in STEM

Savannah is a Lecturer in the department of Mathematics and Statistics at Kyambogo University (Uganda). She holds a Bachelors degree in Education *Mathematics and Chemistry) from Makerere University, a Postgraduate Diploma from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) in South Africa, a Masters in Mathematics and PhD in Mathematics from Stellenbosch University in South Africa.

She is passionate about teaching and considers herself a science communicator. She believes that science that is not understood by her grandmother is not worth doing. At Kyambogo University, she is commonly known as Dr STEAM because of the Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture and Mathematics Festival that she coordinates. She believes in a world where women can grow and contribute to development without having to sacrifice certain aspects of their lives.

At the inaugural GeJuSTA Academy Webinar, she will speak about her journey as a mathematics scholar and academic, the challenges of doing it as a woman and the opportunities that she has explored.
