Mughtar Parker

Mughtar is a seasoned executive with over two decades of strategic leadership experience in corporate and higher education real estate services across Africa. Currently serving as the Executive Director of Properties & Services at the University of Cape Town, Mughtar plays a pivotal role in shaping operational strategies and overseeing complex projects.

His academic background includes a BCom in Accounting from the University of the Western Cape and a master’s designation in corporate real estate from CoreNet Global, Atlanta. He also holds senior credentials in corporate real estate and facilities management from leading professional bodies.

Mughtar’s career spans senior roles at major institutions such as KPMG, Old Mutual, Telkom, Liberty, and the University of the Witwatersrand. His expertise covers a wide range of asset classes including corporate campuses, retail malls, telecom infrastructure, and data centres, with portfolio management experience across sub-Saharan Africa.

Strategically, Mughtar has led initiatives in real estate strategy, property development, organisational change, digital transformation, procurement, and sustainability. He has collaborated with global consulting firms like Accenture and McKinsey and consulted for public entities including the Department of Public Works and the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA).

Internationally, Mughtar serves as the Chairperson of the Real Estate Working Group for the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) and sits on the Board of CoreNet Global for the Sub-Saharan Africa Chapter, ultimately contributing to both real estate challenges and solutions.
