Rebecca Njuguna
Rebecca Njuguna is a PhD candidate researching indigenous finance systems in Sub-Saharan Afrika. Her work sits at the intersection of Afrikan indigenous knowledge systems, digital innovation, and financial inclusion. Informed by a systemic lens, her research considers indigenous finance as a complex system where changes in one part, such as digitisation of processes, has ripple effects on socio-cultural norms and economic behaviours. She is particularly interested in how indigenous finance groups maintain social cohesion and empathetic decision-making while navigating technological change. Her research positions indigenous finance systems as vital lenses for understanding resilience, autonomy, and innovation. Her broader academic interests include decolonial, indigenous perspectives and context-aware technological design in reimagining inclusive socio-economic development in Sub-Saharan Afrika.
