This year's Computer Science postgraduate students enjoyed an end-of year team building event, with 33 students taking part in an Amazing Race challenge at the V&A Waterfront.

They split into teams of 3 to 4 persons racing to be the first team to complete the course. The event took them around the V&A, with clues and challenges hidden at iconic locations. Each challenge needed to be solved in order to move on to the next stop.

The winning team comprised Sabiha Shaikh, Jonas Haldimann and Tobias Kramer (right).  After the race, the students relaxed with a picnic at Green Point Park to cool off.

"It was a fun opportunity for students to meet and connect outside campus," said one of the participants, Ahana Maharaj.

"When I first joined UCT earlier this year, I was really unsure about the decision. Moving away from home and starting at a new university felt quite daunting. But now, after a year here, I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have grown so much—both personally and academically. I found a supportive, diverse community and gained a deeper appreciation for research. The Masters journey is tough, but it is also incredibly exciting and rewarding," sais Ahana.

Thanks go to Ahana Maharaj and Tharien Potgieter (CAIR administrator) for organising the event.
