UCT's Women in Computer Science Society host Ideathon

Over the weekend of 26th October 2025, ACM Women Europe, in partnership with the Women in Computer Science Society at the University of Cape Town (UCT), hosted an Ideathon that challenged participants to design innovative solutions helping rural and disadvantaged women access computing education.

The event brought together brilliant minds who brainstormed, collaborated, and pitched their ideas before a panel of judges from the UCT Computer Science Department. 

The winning team impressed everyone with a creative and practical proposal that included transportation plans to and from learning facilities, and partnerships with local libraries and learning centres — ensuring accessibility and sustainability.
