Two postgraduate students receive faculty scholarships
The School of IT congratulates two new postgraduate students in the Computer Science Department on being awarded Science Faculty scholarships. Ameerah Allie has been awarded the Science Faculty Master’s Equity Scholarship for 2024-2025 and Liza Siurina has been awarded the Science Faculty PhD Fellowship for 2024-2026.
Ameerah became interested in logics and their application after a lecture from her eventual supervisor, Professor Tommie Meyer. "I've decided to pursue this into my Master's, looking at defeasible reasoning. In the future, I hope to develop this further with a career in academia."
Liza was inspired to pursue a PhD by her passion for virtual reality. With a keen focus on the transformative power of VR, she is fully immersed in exploring its vast potential."I'm dedicated to unravelling how VR can heighten emotional experiences." Upon competing her doctorate, Liza hopes to enter the dynamic gaming industry. "It's within the gaming industry that I see boundless opportunities to infuse VR with electrifying new possibilities.''
