AI research wins Best Student Paper award
Mbithe Nzomo, a PhD candidate in Computer Science at the University of Cape Town and HPI Research school at UCT fellow, recently attended the 38th AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI-24) which was held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada from 20th to 27thFebruary 2024. She presented her PhD research on a hybrid AI framework for health monitoring using sensor data at the 27th AAAI/SIGAI Doctoral Consortium.
She also presented a paper at the 8th International Workshop on Health Intelligence (W3PHIAI-24) held in conjunction with AAAI-24. The paper, titled “A Semantic Architecture for Continuous Health Monitoring, Risk Prediction, and Proactive Decision Making” and co-written with her supervisor Prof. Deshen Moodley, won the Best Student Paper award at the workshop.
