The deadline for Master's and PhD registration is 8 February 2019. This deadline does not apply to new Master's by Dissertation students and new PhD students. It applies to new and returning Coursework Master's students, returning Master's by Dissertation students, and returning PhD students.

New Coursework Master's Students:

  1. Complete the 2019 Postgraduate Registration Form.
  2. Complete the 2019 Master's Coursework Curriculum Form. Select "Computer_Science_MSc" as the degree, select the compulsory course CSC5020Z, and then select six of the available courses (ranging from CSC5021Z to CSC5033Z). Details about the courses can be found here. You need to select six courses when you register, but you have until Friday 15 February to finalise your selection of courses.
  3. Email the two completed forms to the Postgraduate Coordinator at pgcoordinator@cs.uct.ac.za and cc the Postgraduate Teaching Asisstant (pgta@cs.uct.ac.za). The Postgraduate Coordinator and Head of Department will sign the curriculum form, and email both forms back to you.
  4. Email the two signed forms to Shahieda Samsodien at shahieda.samsodien@uct.ac.za in the Faculty Office, and cc the Postgraduate Coordinator (pgcoordinator@cs.uct.ac.za) and the Postgraduate Teaching Asisstant (pgta@cs.uct.ac.za).

Returning Coursework Master's Students:

  1. Complete the 2019 Postgraduate Registration Form.
  2. Complete the 2019 Master's Coursework Curriculum Form. Select "Computer_Science_MSc" as the degree, select "CSC5002W Computer Science Minor Dissertation" under Dissertation. Do not select any courses.
  3. Complete the ACA47a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in consultation with your supervisor. Information about completing the form can be found here.
  4. Complete the departmental addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in consultation with your supervisor. A docx version of the addendum can be found here. A PDF version can be found here.
  5. Email the four completed forms, together with your 1-3 page research proposal, to the Postgraduate Coordinator at pgcoordinator@cs.uct.ac.za and cc the Postgraduate Teaching Asisstant (pgta@cs.uct.ac.za). The Postgraduate Coordinator and Head of Department will sign the curriculum form, and email the forms back to you.
  6. Email the four forms, together with your 1-3 page research proposal, to Shahieda Samsodien at shahieda.samsodien@uct.ac.za in the Faculty Office, and cc the Postgraduate Coordinator (pgcoordinator@cs.uct.ac.za) and the Postgraduate Teaching Asisstant (pgta@cs.uct.ac.za).

  2. Upload the completed document to your PeopleSoft record.

New PhD students:

  1. Complete the ACA47a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in consultation with your supervisor. Information about completing the form can be found here.
  2. Complete the departmental addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in consultation with your supervisor. A docx version of the addendum can be found here. A PDF version can be found here.
  3. Upload the two completed documents, as well as your 1-3 page research proposal, to your PeopleSoft record.

Returning PhD Students:
