Working together to get results
This year’s Computer Science postgraduate students came together for a summer laser tag event at Wynberg Park, with around 30 students joining in.
Students were split into teams and jumped straight into the action, competing in several lively rounds. Armed with safe, laser-based taggers, they worked together to plan their moves, coordinate attacks, and cover one another while navigating the park. These matches encouraged communication, quick thinking, and collaboration—alongside plenty of laughter and friendly competition.
The event offered a great opportunity for students to connect outside of their usual academic routines. It also served as a warm welcome for new postgraduate students, giving them a chance to meet others in a relaxed setting and start forming early connections within the department. The afternoon concluded with a casual lunch in the park, rounding off a fun, social day.
This event was organised by Ahana Maharaj and Nicholas Yerolemou. We wanted to say a big thank you to the Computer Science department at UCT for funding and helping us to host this event."
